Event Details

Join us to make an adorable felted gnome! The workshop will be led by local artist, Kathleen Gerdes.

Felting with wool is a very old art form, dating back thousands of years and fortunately, it is being revived by modern day fiber artists.  Today's craft includes dry felting with the use of a special needle and wet felting with only soap and water.   In this presentation, you will learn about both techniques, the tools used by a felter and what materials are best for various projects.   You will also learn to make a very simple needle felted project that you can take with you.

Kathleen Gerdes, an art instructor who lives in Falmouth, teaches various art at many venues.   She is currently teaching a watercolor class for the town of Falmouth and classes for felting and watercolor for the town of Scarborough.  Kathleen also has taught workshops at Fiber College in Searsport, Maine, Fiber & Vine in Norway, Maine, PortFiber in Portland, Maine and at The New England Fiber Festival in West Springfield, Mass.. Kathleen loves sharing her passion for art and believes that making art is good for the soul and adds joy to our lives.
